The team have been extremely busy in recruiting and preparing for the September 2015 intake. There were over 650 applications for 25 places. Clearly the fee paying aspects does not deter applicants.
28 new students commenced in September 2015 and are currently undertaking the theory aspects in order to prepare them for the first practice placement which they will commences in November.
Since the approval of the programme by the University and the Nursing and Midwifery Council the programme lead Trish Houghton and Head of School have been inundated by other Higher Education Institutes and NHS Trusts regarding interest in also developing and providing something similar or working with the University to also become a partner to be a part of this exciting innovation of nurse education.
Thus over the Summer a further major modification approval event took place by the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the University of Bolton has been approved to work in partnership with Bolton Foundation Trust and Central Manchester University Hopsitals NHS Foundation Trust in order to provide further places on the non commissioned Nursing programme. This again will enable additional workforce to the already existing commissioned Nurinsg places. The first cohorts with these 2 new partners will commence in February 2016. The team are now extremely busy recruiting to the February 2016 intake. They are offering 25 places for Bolton Fundation Trust, 20 places are available for Central Manchester University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and a further 30 places for Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. So in total the University will be offering 75 places for February 2016 and plans are in progress for next academic years recruitment for September 2016 and February 2017.
