The Patient Experience Team are really excited to launch our FAB Experience Champions network across all of our hospitals. Our aim is for every service to have a FAB Experience Champion; but ultimately for the patient experience team have a link – a go to person – someone with a passion and interest who we can work with, liaise with and train to even greater FABulousness. Our FAB Experience Champions will play a huge role in improving patient experiences in addition to constantly promoting a culture of compassion, respect, safety and kindness towards our patients, their families and carers.
Champions are also promoting the Academy of Fab Stuff and actively seeking new out innovative ideas within their own teams and share on the FAB Academy website.
This is an important role and needs to be seen with the same credence as safeguarding or tissue viability link nurses; our patients’ experiences are a critical factor in our quality improvements and service developments – and our 2021 plan puts patient centred care at the heart of all that we do. The patient experience team is small and we want to be able to hone in and support teams where it’s needed, help with initiatives and events, training and information.
I have developed the role description; it may look like an awful lot but in reality much of it is automated once we have set the champions up and we can support anyone 100% to do this; they don’t have to be a data geek!
We have also developed a series of awards based upon engagement and achievement (bronze, silver and gold).
