Training videos for best practice

Problem

In ophthalmology there were no detailed guidelines to demonstrate best practice for cleaning and preparing a procedure trolley for a clinical and/or aseptic non touch technique, or for how nurses in ophthalmology prepare equipment for an intravitreal injection (injection in the eye).

Impact

Without universal guidance for new starters working practice can be inconsistent.

Idea

To produce a training video for clinical staff to demonstrate the correct technique for cleaning a procedure trolley and preparing equipment for an intravitreal injection.

Benefits

The video ensures that all staff, including students and new starters, are consistent in their working practice.

Patients are reassured by consistency.
