The maternity team at Royal Preston Hospital are the stars of a brand-new docu-series set for broadcast on Channel 5’s 5STAR.
Airing from Monday 2nd March at 9pm, ‘Maternity Ward’ follows the real-life, heart-warming journey of expectant parents and the staff who care for them on Royal Preston Hospital’s maternity unit.
Featuring different stories each week, from incredible water births to hilarious moments between members of staff, the series is an exclusive, access-all-areas pass to what goes on in a busy maternity unit on a daily basis.
Sarah Cullen, Nursing, Midwifery and AHP Director at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, said: “We were absolutely delighted to be approached to take part in this fantastic series, as it gave us the opportunity to showcase the caring and comforting experience our midwifery teams provide every day. Becoming a parent is such a life-changing milestone, and we hope that local families see the high standards of care we offer and choose us as the place to have their baby. We can’t wait to watch it!”
The series follows outstanding results from the 2019 Care Quality Commission Maternity Survey released earlier this year, which showed how participants felt included in decision making, had confidence and trust in the midwife and believed they were treated with dignity and respect at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals.
The Trust works with the Maternity Voices Partnership and staff to identify and celebrate areas of strength and to continue to develop the services further.
Lancashire Teaching Hospitals worked in collaboration with producers at Chalkboard TV to deliver the 6-part series, which is made up of hour-long episodes.
