Dr Felix Jackson broke with family tradition – he is the fourth generation to study medicine at the Royal London Hospital - and left medical practice in a bid to fix poor clinical communication. Having been frustrated by the reliance on cold-war era tech such as pagers and faxes, he had also become increasingly alarmed by the growing use of unsafe and non-healthcare compliant tools such as WhatsApp by frontline clinicians desperate to find more efficient communication tools.
As a result Dr Jackson developed medCrowd, the instant messenger designed to keep everyone in touch in health and care - including workers, patients and carers - while protecting confidential information to the required standards.
Today medCrowd is being piloted in a range of NHS and international health and care settings and, with its ability to be linked to patient records, is poised to ensure modern tech can be used safely to deliver the best care for everyone.
