As part of the ‘Lets get together’ part of the project a new and exciting service opened its doors on Thursday 24 March 2016 that aims to be interactive and enjoyable for people who have circulation problems affecting their legs, in the Carnforth Area.
The “circulation café” encourages otherwise housebound people to have a social get together whilst receiving treatment and is interactive offering a range of other activities.
The café supports people to meet new friends, learn new skills, enjoy refreshments together and have their “wounds” treated at the same time.
The café is open to new patients and previous patients – so it’s all about keeping well and being healthy together.
For the first session of the “Circulation Café”, the following activities were arranged:
• Craft/Card Making
• Easter Quiz Egg Hunt
• Lancashire Well Being Service to do a talk on the “Well Being Service”
• Inviting the attendees to see what they’d like to happen at the “Circulation café”
Other activities planned for subsequent sessions include
• Bulb planting
• Film show
• Chair exercises
Dr Andy Knox, a local GP and NHS Lancashire North CCG Executive Lead Health and Well Being said: this is a fantastic way to get isolated individuals together to meet and socialize whilst receiving quality care and treatment in a safe environment.
