A new collaborative medical staff bank for the Devon STP, to give locum doctors greater flexibility, increase bank fill rates, and enable continuity of care for patients.
The Southwest Peninsula NHS Bank is launching this October, and this exciting regional collaboration brings together five NHS healthcare providers from across the South West. The current participating organisations are:
• Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust (Lead)
• Devon Partnership NHS Trust
• North Devon Healthcare NHS Trust
• Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust
• Livewell Southwest
Judy Falco, Director of Workforce & Organisational Development at Torbay and South Devon NHS Foundation Trust, says: “Our aim in joining this collaborative bank with our fellow healthcare providers in the region was to increase the flexibility we can offer for clinical shifts, and provide a smooth and straightforward end-to-end system to book and pay staff. We can’t wait to see it up and running.”
For the NHS healthcare providers involved, they’ll benefit from using one platform offering a complete end-to-end solution, including a mobile app, managing vacancies to through to payroll. The Bank will also save the providers money on expensive agency fees by offering a ‘bank first’ solution to fill vacant shifts.
In this initial phase, the Bank will be for medical locums only, with the potential for further staff groups to be added as the collaboration progresses. By joining the collaborative medical bank, locum doctors will have first choice of available shifts tailored to their preferences, which they can easily access via the app or desktop.
Judith Shaw, Managing Director at Liaison Workforce, comments: “We are delighted to have supported the creation of the Southwest Peninsula NHS Bank, and are looking forward to seeing the benefits it brings to both the NHS healthcare providers and medical staff in the region.”
Registrations for medical locums to join the bank are now open on the website at www.swnhsbank.net
