As an Education Support Unit one objective is to reach 90% Trust Target in the CSTF Mandatory Training. As a Trust we had been below this target for some time.
We linked in with our Improvement Hub team, working together to improve mandatory training compliance using improvement methodology.
Following a Pareto Analysis, 10 areas were identified. These were the largest areas with the lowest compliance. We allocated individual members of the Education team to each of the identified areas to offer detailed compliance support.
Using the improvement methodology we created Project Briefs for each area that was supported. Through working through a brief with each department it enabled us to identify barriers to learning e.g. IT skills, access to computers, time to learn etc. Interventions were then identified such as supported Learning Made Simple sessions (our training portal), training workbooks as an alternative completion method, going to areas and providing more visibility to teams.
From utilising the Improvement Methodology it allowed us to have clear SMART aims with teams, interventions and outcome measures. In addition Statistical Process Charts (SPC) charts were used and shared with departments to clearly see improvements in their training compliance.

The results of this project have been fantastic. We have successfully supported 10 areas of lower compliance to reach Trust target in mandatory training. Our overall Trust Mandatory compliance figure also now exceeds 90% and has for the last 8 months.
This methodology has been applied further to support subject matter leads in their subjects as well as appraisal compliance support.
