Getting Social Care Cooking

Legendary British chef and TV presenter, Rosemary Shrager, has been announced as the celebrity ambassador for Care To Cook – www.CareToCook.co.uk – a unique programme aimed at empowering people who draw on care and support to enjoy cooking with independence.

To mark this exciting new campaign, developed by the national social care charity, Community Integrated Care, Rosemary will be hosting an accessible virtual cookalong at 2pm on Friday 11th October on www.What-To-Do.co.uk. This groundbreaking website offers free live accessible experiences every week.

Participants will have the unique opportunity to cook alongside Rosemary, learning how to master her famous mouth-watering risotto, all from the comfort of their own kitchens.

The Care To Cook campaign has been specially designed by the charity to inspire people who access social care, and their support teams, to learn new skills, gain confidence and have fulfilling experiences through cooking.

At the heart of this is www.CareToCook.co.uk – a unique hub that offers accessible recipes, supported by high quality videos starring people supported by the charity and easy read guidance. The website provides a host of life hacks to help people reduce food waste, shop and meal plan with independence, and build skills in the kitchen.

Rosemary said, “I’m so delighted and proud to be an Ambassador for Community Integrated Care’s Care To Cook campaign. I really believe that cooking is for everyone, and the resources and experiences created for Care To Cook will inspire and empower thousands of people to get creative in the kitchen. The recipes are budget friendly, nutritious, accessible and there’s something for everyone. There’s nothing to stop you - it’s time to cook!”

John Hughes, Director of Partnerships and Communities at Community Integrated Care, said, “We’re thrilled to have Rosemary join us, not only to lead this fantastic experience but also as a passionate Ambassador for Care To Cook. Cooking is more than just a life skill; it’s a way for people to express themselves, make healthy choices, and connect with others through food. This initiative proves that delicious and nutritious meals can be achieved on any budget. I’m excited to see how Rosemary’s cooking session and the wider Care To Cook program will empower individuals across our charity and the social care sector, inspiring confidence, joy, and wellbeing through the power of cooking.”
