The two-day workshops are being delivered by nurses from Garden House Hospice in Letchworth.
The training focuses on increasing the confidence of care home staff in supporting people who are at the end of their lives and also preventing unnecessary hospital admissions at this distressing time.The trainers are Caroline Smith, previously Practice Development Nurse and Jane Landon, previously Hospice at Home Sister at Garden House Hospice Care, Letchworth.
This training is one of the many initiatives currently being developed by ‘vanguard’, part of a wider NHS New Care Models programme.
