Perhaps it’s your birthday, anniversary, a day of remembrance? These are personal, intimate and special.
Today is a day for us all. Enjoy with anticipation. A frisson of excitement.
If you enjoy success as I do, if you think the good stuff is fabulous, in the same way that I do, if you admire good people doing great things; this is our day.
Today, marks the 100th day between now and Change Day. The countdown has begun.
This year The Academy of Fabulous Stuff is joining with Helen Bevan's NHS Horizons Team to produce Fab Change Day.
Helen knows, you know, I know; to unlock the potential of the NHS is to ask what works. What really works and how to replicate it. We know, to fathom the secrets of nimble and smart, we must ask the people doing the job what it would take to help them to do it better.
I know the shares on the Academy web-site shown us how to find short-cuts, save thousands and delivered solutions... simply because we have asked, said please and thank you. Words we don’t hear often enough.
I can't tell you how pleased I am to have the opportunity to be part of Change Day and work with Helen. I have admired the initiative since the start.
From small beginnings to a social movement.
So what's next? The trick with change is to respect the past and take the best of it into the future and that is exactly what we intend to do.
Change Day is about people, on the ground, in the front-line of care, in the engine rooms, at their desks, in the lab's, the porter's lodge, the operating theatres, the ambulances, estates and transport.
Everywhere, anywhere, here and there. Change Day is for all of us. I know if we sat down for a quiet word you will be able to tell me something we can do better. I know there is something you could share.
In 100 days, there will be an avalanche of ideas and innovation that I want you and your colleagues to be part of.
If you have been part of change day before, please join us again. If you are new to the idea, or thinking of joining in, please do.
To make it easy, look out for the Change Day App, coming soon. In the meantime go to the Change Day page, to download resources (http://fabnhsstuff.net/fabchangeday/resources/) , media packs, how to arrange an event, review last year for ideas (fabnhsstuff.net/…abchangeday/actions-2015 ) and to see the new campaigns (http://fabnhsstuff.net/fabchangeday/campaigns/)
Look out for a World Record attempt on the ‘Randomised Coffee Trial’ (http://fabnhsstuff.net/fabchangeday/campaigns/) and training events at the Fab Change Day Activist School, free to attend. (http://fabnhsstuff.net/2016/07/07/fab-change-day-activists-school/)
We want to put your ideas into action, not just on Change Day, but drive them through the year, bringing each promise to fruition. Helping you, where we can, sharing and making each pledge a valuable, precious contribution to better care.
Look out for more events and meetings.
We don't want to change Change Day; we want to change the impact it has. Amplify its influence and sustain its purpose. A year of change, building on the inspiration of a day of fun and action.
Please join us in using the unique opportunity of Change Day 2016, to create an action, make promise and fulfil a pledge. Small and simple, ambitious and complicated; we are here to help you to make your mark.
We are enjoying the great tradition of a social movement that has no purpose other than to share the best, do our best and be the best.
What's not to like. Join in.
