Championing research amongst nurses

A member of nursing staff at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been successful in joining a prestigious group to help shape work to support research nurses working on cancer clinical trials nationally.

Steph Cornthwaite, Senior Research Nurse at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, has been successful in her application to join the

first Clinical Research Nurse Advisory Group. As part of this group, Steph will be able to help to shape the work that the team are doing to support research nurses working on cancer clinical trials with their professional and educational needs.

Cancer Research UK’s clinical research nurse advisory group helps to make sure activities, content and resources as part of the Excellence in Research Programme continue to meet the professional and educational needs of research nurses working on cancer clinical trials. This programme is designed to support clinical research nurses working on cancer trials through the provision of relevant news and resources, facilitation of communication and collaboration, and increased awareness of clinical research nurses and their value.

Steph said: “I am delighted to have been accepted into the Clinical Research Nurse Advisory Group. This will be a great platform to continue to build on improvements to assist our clinical research nurses to be the best that they can be.”

Paul Brown, Head of Research and Innovation at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, said: “We are so pleased that Steph has been successful in joining the Clinical Research Nurse Advisory Group. As part of this group, Steph will be able to share best practice, learn from other members and really have an impact on the resources and tools available to support our research nurses.”
