A member of staff at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been shortlisted for an award for outstanding work.

Tracey Ellis, Macmillan Consultant Radiographer at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, has been shortlisted for a Macmillan Professionals Excellence Award in the category of Innovation Excellence.

The Macmillan Professionals Excellence Awards acknowledge and celebrate the outstanding work of Macmillan professionals of all disciplines. These awards highlight individuals and teams whose leadership in the categories of service improvement, innovation, and integration has benefited people living with cancer in an extraordinary way.

Tracey was nominated by lead cancer nurse, Anne Tomlinson. Anne said: “I nominated Tracey because her role is innovative and Tracey is just brilliant! She has improved the pathways and the experiences for our cancer patients at the Cancer Centre at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals and she is continually developing and improving the service that we provide. She has made this role so invaluable that we are now creating more roles like this.”

Tracey said: “I am in complete shock at being shortlisted for the Macmillan Innovation Excellence Award. It is a real compliment to have been nominated for this award as it recognises those that improve the lives of people living with cancer in an extraordinary way. So to have been shortlisted is a true honour and will hopefully help to promote the potential of therapeutic radiographers and allied health professions. I am so proud to be a Consultant Radiographer and feel privileged to positively influence the experience of our patients.”

The winners will be announced at the Excellence Awards ceremony on Thursday 8 November 2018 at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole Hotel.
