We are thrilled to announce a new collaboration with our Social Value Partner

The RCN Foundation (RCNF)

The RCN Foundation is an independent charity.  Our purpose is to support and strengthen nursing and midwifery to improve the health and wellbeing of the public.

Our support is open to any current and former nurse, midwife, healthcare/midwifery support worker, student and nursing associate. You do not have to be a member of the RCN to access our support.

We achieve our purpose in three specific ways:

Supporting individual members of the nursing and midwifery teams by making grants for financial hardship and education activities.

Investing in the professions by funding nursing- and midwifery-led projects that improve the UK's health and wellbeing and enhance patient care.

Championing nursing and midwifery by raising the profile of the professions and public understanding of their contribution to improving the nation’s health.

Over the past five years alone, the RCN Foundation and its time-limited subsidiary charity, the Covid-19 Healthcare support Appeal, have distributed over £11 million in grant funding to directly support 23,301 nursing, midwifery and other health and care staff. Of this, 71% of individuals supported were in significant financial hardship.

The Foundation has also funded 32 research and innovation projects that have generated tangible outputs which improved clinical practice and patient care in areas such as social care, learning disability, and the mental health of nursing and midwifery staff. This includes the establishment of the first UK Chair in Adult Social Care Nursing.
