Bio

I’ve worked in the NHS since 1985, training in Paediatrics and then Public Health.  I moved to work in North Wales in 2017 with a role that spans improvement, research and innovation.  I have a joint role, working a couple of days a week for Improvement Cymru – the National Quality Improvement service in Wales.

Quality Improvement is definitely the thing that gets me out of bed in the morning and supporting teams to improve care is one of the joys of my work. Over the years, I’ve introduced and taught on QI training programmes for staff, run improvement projects and collaboratives, as well as supporting and coaching improvement leads.  In 2018, we launched a co-designed a hub – BCUQI – this is a network of improvers supported by a website with tools, links and information about projects within our Health Board. Our aim is to bring together like-minded people to support each other to improve services. The hub aims to be the “go to” place for quality improvement information (sound familiar?).

More recently, I completed the IHI Improvement Advisor course and then Covid struck – so I’m really looking forward to using and honing some of my new skills – cos you’re never too old to learn!
