In accordance with my Fab Pledge we have initiated a Staff Book Club.

It is a well-being and literacy initiative, a partnership project between Wirral Libraries and WUTH and a fun opportunity for Trust staff who would not normally meet up and interact with each other.

Over 30 people signed up to take part in the Book Club during Fab Change Week.

Our first Book Club meeting was held on 13th December when we discussed “The Rosie Project” by Graeme Simsion . The session was co-facilitated by Kath McKean from Wirral Libraries and Linda Taylor, Outreach Services Librarian, WUTH.

We publicised the initiative using all of the Trust’s media approaches knowing that a big challenge would be simply finding a time when the majority of those interested could attend.

In the event attendance was good and the icing on the cake was that we even had interactions from the author of the book on Twitter.

We have now identified our meeting dates for the whole of next year and selected our next two books.

We look forward to welcoming new members, especially those who have never visited the library before and to exploring books together. Wirral Libraries also had the opportunity to publicise their services, especially their electronic book offering.
