Professionals throughout the country are creating their own guidelines in response to the recommendations made by the Neuberger Review on the Liverpool Care Pathway.
This Charter, created by Wirral health and social care professionals, is supported by Cheshire and Merseyside Palliative and End of Life Care Clinical Network Steering Group and the Wirral End of Life and Palliative Care Partnership Group. “All health and social care professionals in the area and also businesses working with people at the end of their lives are being invited to pledge their support for the Charter’s ideals,” said Julie Gorry, CEO of Wirral Hospice St John’s. “Care, kindness and understanding underpin its concept.”
In formally pledging their support, professionals and businesses are being asked to ensure that their colleagues understand the aims of the Charter, and help will be given to ensure the standards are met. In return, they will be able to register their names on the Find Me Help microsite which enables people to identify local help providers. Individual supporters are being asked to sign the Supporters’ Roll, helping to spread the word that Wirral has a high quality of end of life care available.
