A P-Chart is a statistical process control tool.
Statistical process control (SPC) is an analytical technique for plotting data over time. It helps you understand variation and in so doing guides you on the most appropriate action to take, as well as allowing you to track the impact of the changes you make.
A P-chart is used to monitor proportions. The plotted values are calculated by dividing the sample number by the total number.
This chart is used when the total number of a measure varies. For example, for recording the rate of falls (number of patients who have fallen divided by the total number of patients).
With this tool you can:
- record your data on a daily, weekly or monthly basis, and it will be automatically plotted on a P-chart
- identify when a process may have changed because SPC rules are automatically applied to the data
- ability to annotate your chart
