This session is recommended for practice educators, mentors and any practitioners working with students. Building student resilience through a student support group.
The student support group was initiated by Practice Educators Pamela Shaw and Paula Elliott during the Health Visiting Implementation Plan and it has continued to have a critical role in ensuring the teaching quality and learning experience of students.
The aim is to ensure student health visitors are adequately prepared for qualification and compliments the learning undertaken by Practice Educators in the clinical setting.
The group gives students a nurturing, safe and supportive environment that promotes learning and personal resilience: It enables students to address stress factors and improve wellbeing through peer support whilst simultaneously delivering opportunities for learning and promoting preparedness for qualification.
There may be elements on health visiting but there will be some elements of information that can be taken from it and used generically in mentorship of any student.
