A member of staff at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has been crowned the winner of a national Unsung Hero Award.
The Unsung Hero Awards are the only national awards for non-medical NHS staff and volunteers who go above and beyond the call of duty in their roles. The awards aim to highlight the hard work that non-medical staff do on a daily basis.
Venkata Padala, Head of Enterprise Wide Applications at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals, was presented with the IT Leader of the Year Award at a glittering awards ceremony on Friday evening.
Venkata said: “I am absolutely honoured to have won an Unsung Hero Award. Listening to all of the nominations made me feel so humbled; everyone was a winner on the night. It is fantastic to also recognise the non-clinical departments within the NHS that go above and beyond. I am privileged to be working with such amazing teams and, for me, they are all unsung heroes.”
Venkata was nominated by Suhail Patel, Clinical Applications Engagement Manager at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals. Suhail said: “Of all the staff that we have encountered within our organisation, we think Ven is a hidden gem, and is truly “the unsung hero” in IT/technology services. Ven places others before himself, is selfless, caring, and always takes the time to say thank you to everyone. He is what a leader should be, having his people’s best interests at heart and that of the patients. Ven walks the organisational values and lives by it. He may not realise it, but his team does. This is the key to Ven being here; our manager, our leader, Head of Enterprise Wide Applications, Venkata Padala. We are thrilled that Ven has won the IT Leader of the Year Award.”
Winners were announced at a gala awards ceremony on Friday 1st of March 2019 at The Hilton Deansgate in Manchester.
