Its not everyday you get to listen to an inspirational woman whose passion, commitment and drive to make a difference is awe inspiring.
Its not everyday that messages and learnings from sport can resonant so clearly with the health and social care agenda.
But today was my lucky day.
Today, I heard Katherine Grainger CBE , British rower and proud owner of five Olympic medals in five Olympic Games speak.
Wow. Thirty minutes passed by in a flash, but the following thoughts and comments from Katherine really made me reflect and think of the parallels for us as we prepare for FabChangeDay on the 19th October:-
"How do you want to be remembered? Be the one who makes the difference"
"Try, see what might be possible" #JustDoIt
"Know yourself, know your job, trust your team and never do their job for them"
"Little things matter, just .545 of a second was the difference between 5 gold medals and 5 silver medals at the Rio Olympics"
"To make a difference you need passion, belief, don't fear failure and perform each day the best you can as part of a trusting team"
It's not everyday we get the opportunity to make a change, to improve service delivery, improve things for patients or staff. It's not everyday we feel empowered and supported to #JustDoIt.
But October 19th is that Day- #FabChangeDay and Katherine had a message for all of you planning your FabChangeDay pledges
Together we have the opportunity to change the landscape of health and social care, to make a difference by pledging on change Day https://app.fabchangeday.net/
