On the 24th May, the Slough CCG/Macmillan Bowel Cancer Screening Improvement team were once again out and about in the community this time at GSK/Horlicks in Maidenhead where they set up the giant walk-through inflatable bowel in the carpark.

The giant bowel is very effective in assisting with the delivery of important messages about bowel cancer, bowel cancer screening and the signs and symptoms to be aware of so that people understand what they are and can visit or speak with their doctor if they are worried about their health.

There are hundreds of workers at the GSK site in Maidenhead, including many who travel in from Slough, therefore, it was really important that we visited the site to build greater awareness about cancer.

Overall it was a great day with well over 100 staff going through the bowel and/or talking to staff about bowel cancer and screening in general.

The majority of staff who came down on the day collected health promotion information and resources from the tables we had set up.

Feedback was very positive and the inflatable bowel was a huge hit among those that were game enough to enter!
