SiMBA Memory Boxes Donated to maternity, neonatal, pregnancy support units; individuals on request featured image
By gifting a Memory Box to parents and treating their baby as an individual, you are helping to break the fear and taboo that can be associated with miscarriage and stillbirth.

Parents will never forget being encouraged and empowered to create their Memory Box; to be supported in making their baby’s imprints, to choose where the wisp of hair comes from, helping parents to write a message in their “Just to Say” card and encouraging them to take pictures of/with their baby and spend time with them. You are helping to create the most precious memories which will be remembered each time the box is opened and treasured for a lifetime.

Our large Memory Box contains:

• 2 teddies, a SiMBA teddy and a knitted teddy; a teddy to stay in the box and a teddy to stay with the baby on their journey

• A box for a wisp of hair •

A SiMBA candle •

A wooden star •

2 butterfly charms • “Forget me Not” seeded butterfly

• Hand and footprint inkless wipe certificates

Plus a presentation folder with:

A birth acknowledgement certificate

Two ‘Just to say....’ cards one to write down memories one to write a message to go with their baby.

We also send out a clay imprint kit to accompany each large Memory Box. Being able to feel the indentations in their baby’s hands and feet can provide comfort to parents for years to come.

Our small Memory Box contents are similar to that of the larger box and can be sent with or without inkless wipes, depending on the gestation that your unit / ward would normally support. Our small Memory Boxes are there to recognise even the tiniest of babies. “No parent can ever imagine having to be told that their baby has died at a stage where they are preparing for a life with their newborn. The shock and numbness is unimaginable. As hospital staff, we can now give parents a Memory Box so they can gather priceless items of their baby. We place a Blanket of Love with their baby soon after birth, which stays with the baby and can later be placed in their box or stay with their baby. Midwives can help parents in taking hand and footprints, choose an irreplaceable lock of hair and we can assist with taking photos of their baby. For the smaller, more fragile baby we can provide a nest to cradle the baby in. SiMBA also provides two teddies so that parents can remember the size of their baby next to the teddy. A teddy can be placed in the Memory Box and one kept with the baby, whatever the parents chooses. We guide the parents through this tragic but most precious time by gathering these items, which will forever provide timeless memories. Our job is to empower parents, to take away their fear if we can by encouraging them to hold and cuddle their baby and create memories that can never be taken away.”

How do I request a Memory Box sample? Just email us at [email protected] or phone us on 01368 860141 and we’ll send you a sample Memory Box (large and small) along with a clay imprint kit so that you can see a box before we provide you with a full supply. www.simbacharity.org.uk
