Sending a letter to a loved one at #UltimateULHT

Sending a letter to a loved one at #UltimateULHT featured image

Our new project at United Lincolnshire Hospitals started after I got from a relative last week who was so desperate to contact their loved one in one of our hospitals but didn’t have a mobile device with them. So without endless meetings, SOPs or endless paperwork, very quickly launched a new service ‘send a letter to a loved one’ to help relatives and friends to keep in contact with their loved ones while we have restricted visiting in our hospitals. 💌

So relatives and friend simply email a central inbox, we check where the patient is as they may have moved then the message is sent to the ward, printed and delivered to the patient. Simples 😀

We also asked for letters for our lonely patients who have no family or friends. Just a few words to brighten their day as we know a letter will make a huge difference to them.

We’ve got some many letters coming in, linking up families with their loved ones and even more messages for lonely patients from the public and extra special messages from children to share out.

Its a very emotional and rewarding project as I know some of the messages are going to

loved ones who may not make it through the pandemic but we’re also linking families together in these extraordinary time .

When we get through the storm, it’s something I’m planning on keeping going
