Lynn's pledge was a simple but effective one.
We are extremely lucky on Scotter Ward to have such a vast expanse of day room and a dedicated dining area.
Her pledge was to be more proactive in encouraging the patients to go to the dining room at meal times.
She has completed this by actively encouraging the patients to use the dining room encouraging socialisation and nutrition and hydration in a normal environment not at the side of the bed.
This has also enabled the staff to spend more time with the patients at mealtimes as the patients are all in one place.
We understand that some patients may have needs and preferences that do not allow this but the vast majority enjoy the experience in the dining room.
Since Lynn made this pledge she has been successful in attaining the ward sisters post and is heavily involved in the refurbishment plans of our day room making the day room and dining room a better environment for the patients to use.
