Dave and Karen work on Scotter Ward in our therapy team as rehabilitation assistant and Technical Instructor.
A lot of their time is spent encouraging our patients to mobilise within their limits and progress their independence further.
During this time they both use an awful lot of equipment.
Their pledge was to 'sort our wheelchairs out' as it was frustrating when they couldn't find the patients chair or came to fetch one and it was missing one or both footplates ......a scenario I am sure all of us can relay to!
Firstly they ensured all patients own and stock wheelchairs were named so with ID tags.
They then numbered the wheelchairs and number matched the footplates too and labelled them.
They made notices and displayed them in the wheelchair storage area.
Following their work it has given us a basis for knowing what stock we have in order to plan what further we need to order and also has saved so much time in trying to find the footplates for example.
