Problem

On ward Berman 2 respiratory patients often sit out in their chairs overnight due to respiratory problems.

Impact

Sitting out for so long can increase the risk of developing pressure ulcers.

Idea

To apply for a SmartSeat, which has proved successful and made a big difference to patients on similar wards.

Benefits

The cutting edge technology of the chair makes patients more comfortable and relieves pressure through wire and water cell technology.

This significantly reduces the risk of pressure ulcers meaning patients are able to sit for longer periods of time.

Name and Job Title Rhona Al-Bazaaz, ward sister Berman 2.
