Primary Care Eating Disorder Service

Why not assess and treat eating disorders in GP practices?

In Bristol we set up a service, called First Step, to a single point of entry for all adults with an eating disorder to be assessed rapidly by a highly qualified specialist and triaged to the right therapy: continue in the community with CBT or referral along to hospital team.

Fully integrated with specialist ED team, simple referral criteria, and fast access to treatment!

Patients love it, GPs love it, and the ED referral team love it as referrals went down to hospital, plus it saved £££!

A simple model to replicate anywhere.
