It was important to me that this was a full and typical shift.
I shadowed a fantastic junior doctor during her busy & challenging 13hr shift - 8hrs on an acute Gastroenterology ward and then 5hrs in the evening on an acute medical assessment unit.
I’ve seen first hand the most dedicated, empathetic, efficient and inspiring Doctors, Nurses, Apprentices, Occupational Therapists, Doctors Assistants & Co-ordinators.
What have I learnt? I am immensely proud to work in a hospital with such wonderful staff that work tirelessly and selflessly, putting our patients first.
Walking alongside staff has been key in truly appreciating the challenges they face.
It has given me a much better understanding of how I can support improvements that will make a real difference for them.
