Dr Gordon G W French, Lead Mentor, Health Education East Midlands and Consultant Anaesthetist Northampton General Hospital explains the increasing need for mentoring in the current NHS and the newer models of mentoring which bear little resemblance to the sponsorship models of the past. "Whether it is for tackling problems, developing opportunities, managing change, handling conflict or simply listening better, mentoring can help you open doors that otherwise remain locked."
