Myography contains hundreds of unique autobiographical stickers, maps, and adult colouring helping you to create a personalised book, It's your story your way.
Our initial version for our life story book was originally designed for older adults living with a diagnosis of dementia, however, due to already popular demand, we are currently creating a version for adults so anyone from 18 upwards can start recording their story.
When we were designing Myography we knew it needed to prompt people into discussing things that matter in life so we started with the most important thing in life, our first question.
Who was your first true love? For me it was the American pop sensation Tiffany, I fell in love as she sang “I think were alone now”, its silly, its trivial, but its important. If I am ever in a care home and a carer puts Frank Sinatra on, I wouldn’t have much interest, put tiffany on and I will be smiling from ear to ear. Its these little things that matter.
So What is Myography? Myogrpahy is an autobiography, containing approximately 300 unique stickers, 150 of these are autobiographical header questions, these range from “how I spent my summer holidays” to “describe your military experience” the author can choose the sticker relevant to them, place it at the top of a page in one of the 8 chapters and answer the question how they choose, whether this be written or with drawings or photographs. Myogrpahy is about completing your book, your story, your way.
Myography also contains a 150 stickers that allow you to create your own family tree as well as stickers to be used on the 6 beautifully designed maps to show where you have travelled or where you hope to travel. As I mentioned there are 8 chapters, 6 are the life stages birth through to older adulthood, the last 2 are maps and the family tree. Each chapter page is a beautifully designed piece of adult colouring, specifically designed for us by a young artist, Jay Wright.
But that’s the practicalities of Myography, the most important thing about Myography is as a therapeutic tool, it allows the author as well as family, friends and carers to contribute, allowing them to understand not only their loved one but their illness.
Ultimately what I would like to see is Myography being used as a book of condolences, overflowing with dog eared pages, photos and pictures by grandkids, so the family don’t leave a funeral with a book of signatures but with their loved ones story to pass on to future generations allowing grandchildren and great-grandchildren a real connection with their families.
Myography, Its Your Story, Your Way.
