MyEmergencyDr app - ideas from Australia

The My Emergency Dr app is a 24-hours-a-day medical service that connects patients anywhere in Australia to Specialist Emergency Doctors via a video link on your smartphone. Our doctors provide an online emergency consultation, including prescriptions, x-ray and pathology referrals, and even provide advice on whether the patient needs to attend the Emergency Department or whether their condition can be managed initially via the app and then followed up by the patient’s usual GP.

The service has been developed by a group of leading Australian emergency department doctors as a way to improve access to emergency care for all Australians wherever they live, and help alleviate pressure on public hospital Emergency Departments. My Emergency Dr is Australian-owned and operated and is not reliant on government funding.

Whilst the App is free to download, each consultation is paid for by the patient and is not Medicare rebateable except for patients in designated rural and remote locations or residents of aged care facilities.

Founded in Australia in 2011, GP2U is Australia's only dedicated online medical practice. Our goal is to deliver healthcare to our patients on their terms, by allowing consultations to occur where and when it suits them.

Our proprietary software facilitates secure video based consultations and is deeply integrated into the Australian healthcare system allowing us to deliver prescriptions, pathology requests, specialist referrals and secure provider to provider messaging.

In 2015 GP2U successfully completed a Series A capital raise and welcomed ASX listed, Sonic Healthcare and leading private health insurer HCF as partners and investors.
