Lessons for success for CCGs: Managing demand for elective care services

The number of GP referrals in England is on the rise, representing an increasing cost burden on CCGs.

To support the local healthcare economy manage referrals more effectively, NHS England is hosting a series of half-day events across the south region in October 2017.

The events are free to attend and are open to commissioners, managers and clinicians across the south region involved in improving elective services and reducing demand.

Each event will introduce examples of new initiatives are actively managing demand, breaking down the barriers to best practice, an expert panel discussing the merits of successful schemes such as peer review, shared decision making and advice and guidance models. Speakers include NHS England national elective care and demand management programme; SCW Commissioning Support Unit’s transformation team and case studies from across the patch, sharing their experiences and good practice.
