Problem

Hospital surroundings can be confusing for patients with dementia.

Impact

Patients with dementia are at risk of becoming agitated.

Idea

To give patients with dementia on wards C4, C5 and C6 a ‘twiddle muff’.

Twiddle muffs are knitted sensory bands with added buttons, ribbons, fabrics etc.

Benefits

Twiddle muffs provide a calming, sensory experience for patients with dementia, giving something to occupy their hands and minds. Patients can keep their twiddle muff to take with them when they are discharged.
