Recently FabNHSStuff on Tour visited Nottingham University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (NUH).
We met fabulous front line people who are empowered to makes changes, to stop doing things that don't work for patients and to simplify and improve services and processes.
A 'Just Do It' is an idea that makes things better for patients, visitors or staff. At NUH staff CAN just do it.
We love this way of thinking, on changing behavior and culture towards a model of continuous challenge and improvement. Making things better, making things good every time; not just to tick a box, not just because a CQC inspection is looming, but because the culture of the organization and its staff say quality and continuous improvement is the way we want to work.
In 'homage' to the fabulous staff at NUH who inspired us, as part of the war on 'stinkin thinking' and to support the obvious desire of so many to say when something is wrong and to have the courage to listen and fix it - we give you a brand new New Year Monday morning feature - 'Just Do It' - Why Nott?
Starting on Monday 4th January, and on every Monday , we will be sharing with you examples of 'Just Do It' changes from NUH - each example will explain what the problem was, what the impact of the problem was, what the staff idea was and what the benefits of implementing the idea has been.
To start the New Year on January the 4th, we will be showcasing two very different 'Just Do Its' , a taster of the great things to come in 2016 and a reminder that no matter how big or small, we can each make a difference.
Every Monday, a problem, an idea and a solution - so go on 'Just Do It'.
