International Infection Prevention and Control Week 15th -19th October 2018

Every 3.5 seconds, someone in the world dies of sepsis.

In the UK alone, 44,000 people lose their lives to sepsis every year. This is more than breast, bowel and prostate cancer combined. Globally, sepsis claims 6 million lives a year. Yet with early diagnosis it is easily treatable.

Two of our IPC members attended the annual Infection Prevention and Control Conference in Glasgow where again the focus was heavily sepsis related and were fortunate to hear Dr Ron Daniels founder and CEO of UK Sepsis trust talk of his experiences and advice for reducing deaths from sepsis.

International Infection Prevention and control week will take place 15-19th October 2018.

There will be pop up stands at lunch times with promotional materials in the Dining room at Fieldhead and Kendray Hospital.

The focus will be sepsis awareness, recognition of symptoms, early intervention and prevention.
