What does the word mean to you?
Does it make you think of Sir Tim Berners-Lee and the scale of the impact his innovation has had on our world ? Or do you perhaps think of the CERN Institute and The Large Hadron Collider particle accelerator ?
Both are innovations that are colossal in their potential reach and impact on humanity.
BUT innovation isn't just the remit of phenomenally clever scientists - it's something we can all do, everyday, however small.
In my BLONDE world innovation is small and builds on the innovation and change from the previous week - exactly as British Cyclings performance director Dave Brailsford said "marginal gains" underpin everything we do.
Dave Brailsford said 'If you broke down everything you could think of all that goes into riding a bike, and then improve it by 1%, you will get a significant increase when you put them all together'
Well at FabNHSStuff we believe the same applies to the NHS.
In response to the constant 'record got stuck criticism' and 'the NHS has to change' rhetoric, we believe we should share and celebrate the Fab innovations that you are making a reality everyday. If these innovations were shared and rolled out throughout the NHS - wow just think of the impact (yup its that aggregation of marginal games thing).
This short film, made at EXPO15 is interesting, it explores technological innovation in healthcare but is put in clear perspective by the thoughts and comments from both Simon Stevens and Sam Jones - have a look and listen out for the 2 types of innovation that Simon talks about.....

Innovation - yes that you!
Have a great week
