The play, written by Brain Daniels, is a powerful piece.
It tells the story of Kate and Chris, from their first meeting in an Edinburgh Nightclub, explores their life plans both before and after Kate's diagnosis with a life limiting cancer and how they worked together to launch the #hellomynameis campaign.
Kate is powerfully and humourously played by Bernie Byrnes ........ I only met Kate virtually on twitter but I left the performance feeling like I had met Kate the person.
Kate celebrated and valued the simple kindness of a porter, a porter who said 'hello my name is Brian and Kate I will be taking you down to CT this morning'. That simple human introduction made Kate feel like Kate, not 'the cancer patient'.
As we all know, the legacy of that interaction was the campaign #hellomynameis ....... a campaign that now has a global footprint.
This is a must see performance, a sobering, humourous, touching and emotional performance which reminds us all that the little things are the big things.
Book a ticket, commission a performance at your work place , pack your tissues, wear your waterproof mascara and enjoy and celebrate the legacy of an inspiring human being .... Dr Kate Granger
