If they don’t, their ability to manage their symptoms can be lost and there can be serious consequences for them and their families as well as increasing the level of care that staff will need to provide.
Whether someone with Parkinson's is in a care home, a hospice or spending time in hospital - we want them to get their medication on time, every time.
Two things we believe could really help this are hospitals, care homes and hospices having:
• A self-administration policy that proactively supports people with Parkinson’s, and their carers to take their medication themselves whenever possible
• A policy that allows carers to visit their loved ones outside of official visiting hours to allow them to provide support with medication and communication whenever it’s needed.
We hope as many people as possible, across the social care and health care sector, can help us make this a reality as Change Day approaches this October!
We’re spreading the message far and wide, and working with professionals across the health and social care sector to help you ensure that your patients get their medication on time.
We’ve created lots of resources including short films, training packs, networks of professionals who share best practice.
