Free health and wellbeing mini-MOT event

People in Egremont and the surrounding area are being invited to get a free health MOT.

A free health and wellbeing drop in event for older people was hosted by health experts from Cumbria Partnership NHS Foundation Trust (CPFT) on Friday 24th March, 9.30am – 2.30pm, in Egremont Library.

Vicky Johnston, CPFT Specialist Physiotherapist based at West Cumberland Hospital, said: “We want to focus on working more closely with the local community and providing them with specific advice about health problems that they might be concerned about. We will be offering free blood pressure, height and weight checks as well as fitness reviews and advice on keeping active.”

The event will brought together a range of NHS services including Physiotherapy, Occupational Therapy, Speech & Language Therapy, Dietetics, Pulmonary and Cardiac Rehabilitation as well as information from third sector providers and voluntary organisations.

Staff will be offering advice on keeping fit, independent and healthy and will be carrying out walking aid reviews. Community Services Officers from Cumbria County Council will also be on hand to provide information about local health and wellbeing services.
