FabChangeWeek - Using the keys you already have to unlock change

FabChangeWeek - Using the keys you already have to unlock change featured image
Last week I was in Ontario at the South West LHIN Quality Symposium (you can find out more about SWLHIN here http://www.southwestlhin.on.ca/)

It was great to meet inspirational people working within Health and Social Care in Ontario and particularly exciting to see that Onario will be participating in FabChangeWeek 2017

One of the conference speakers was Luke Anderson. Luke had a spinal cord injury and describes the split second, riding his mountain bike, when his life changed.

Breaking down barriers is something that's Luke has been doing since he founded The StopGapFoundation http://stopgap.ca/ and began his work building brightly coloured ramps to provide accessibility to previously inaccessible places.

Luke believes that champions are all around us. Champions are individuals with a natural ability to adapt to changing circumstances and thrive.

Luke's message is simple: be the change.

Through his stories and life experiences, Luke challenges us to find the same inspiration which drove him to success, to find success in ourselves and be the change we wish to see.

I filmed Luke speaking on my ipad - its not edited, its live, its real and I hope you find Luke's messages as powerful as I did.

Can we use these keys within our work places and communities to make change happen?
  • Harness our frustration
  • Raise Awareness of the issue
  • Show a benefit to the service - cost neutral or cost saving?
  • Galvinise supporters
  • Be disruptive!
  • Educate  and inform others about the importance/rationale for our proposed change
  • Make the change experience fun for everyone participating
  • Put people first
Luke has developed a really successful schools programme which is engaging children to become change agents within their local communities, you can read about the whole project here.

I challenge you not to be inspired!

I challenge you to plan how you can use the keys you already have to make real change a reality where you work or live and I challenge you to share the work you do with us here to make FabChangeWeek a celebration of your success.

Thank you Luke for inspiring us all to be the change.
