Educational video guides for common neurological conditions

Educational video guides for common neurological conditions featured image
The London neuroscience network for their workstream to improve communication between primary care and neurologists and address the quality of referrals to neurology outpatients have developed three educational video guides.

The guides support GPs diagnose and manage common neurological conditions: headache, dizzy spells and faint, fits and funny turns (transient loss of consciousness, TLOC).

Each guide covers key issues and is discussed by a GP and a neurologist.

-To take a patient history

-To diagnose the common conditions

-To treat the common condition when a diagnosis has been made including patient self-help

-To identify red flags

-To recognise when to refer to specialist care

The GP can review all videos to receive a learning module on these conditions or directly select the area of interest to confirm their thinking.

The videos provide quick access to knowledge and current practice in a visual medium, with most videos being less than 4 minutes long. Checklist and further written information is also linked. They could be of interest to other heath professionals but were not designed to use with patients.

The videos are free, please use, and advertise to colleagues. http://www.londonscn.nhs.uk/publication/adults-with-dizzy-spells-edu-videos
