Did you know that over half of all cases of DVT are associated with hospitalisation, with many events happening up to 90 days after admission?

dvt4DVT affects 1 in every 1000 of the UK population and as such is a significant cause of mortality, long term disability and chronic ill-health problems.

Between 2009-2104 there were 625 claims and 123 of these claims were successful.

These claims cost over 10 million pounds. 

DVT2These incidents happen across the care spectrum with the largest proportion coming from surgical environments - but it really is something we all need to be mindful of and ensure VTE risk assessments are carried out.
