In order to prevent deconditioning and to improve the care we provide we started to arrange patient events each month.
A number of our patients are medically fit and waiting for community services and patient complaints included themes of lack of stimulation or activity.
These events have been arranged on special occasions and have allowed our patients and their relatives to enjoy an afternoon of entertainment and our staff have loved them all.
Staff participating have dressed up and we have used particular themes for each occasion. We usually have afternoon tea, bingo, a sing along and we have played games such as play your cards right which the patients love.
We decorate the room and we invite patients and their relatives to join us for some entertainment. We have been to charity shops to get china cups, saucers, cake stands and trolleys so we can theme the events.
We ask our trust staff for unwanted gifts which we use as prizes for our patients.
The following events have been very successful.
1. Valentines Afternoon Tea
2. Teddy Bears Picnic,
3 St Georges Day Event
4. Christmas Parties
We would recommend such events for patients across the country as they have brought joy to both our patients and staff
