2016-10-18_58061975581ca_fluappFlu vaccination is a CQUIN for 2016/17 and requires organisations to achieve the vaccination of 75% of eligible staff in order to receive the full CQUIN allocation monies.

For NUH this amounts to just over £1.6m Learning from the 2015/16 flu campaign highlighted that monitoring of ongoing performance was difficult due to the manual collation of vaccination forms and a separate audit process that had been introduced to capture staff who received their vacciantion at their GP.

To improve this for the 2016/17 flu campaign the flu steering committee, chaired by the deputy chief nurse, agreed to look at an alternative method of capturing and reporting flu vaccinations that took place and reduce the burden of administrative work. After conversations with ICT we decided to develop an app to capture the flu vaccination information.

Jo Worrell, Business Manager in Occupational Health, worked with ICT to develop the app in quick and easy format that would capture both staff vaccinated at the Trust and those who had received their vaccination from their GP.

The app captures consent electronically so we don’t need to use paper forms –although these are available for any area that does not have an IPAD. 2016-10-18_5806197558005_fluapp2

The app also records the batch number and expiry date. The performance team report daily on divisional flu performance which is visible on the Trust intranet and via social media.
