Developing Ambulatory Emergency Care pathways at #UltimateULHT

Developing Ambulatory Emergency Care pathways at #UltimateULHT Ambulatory Emergency Care (AEC) at Boston’s Pilgrim Hospital, ULHT is, alongside wider urgent and emergency care pathways, undergoing continuing review and developments.

Sister Lesley Dell on the AEC unit at Pilgrim has been looking at how she can manage not only being in temporary accommodation (which brings its own challenges) but also ensures pathways are safe and meet best practice standards.

Step one has been to modify the national AMBS score template to meet the local streams (and her physical location with reduced access and facilities) and step 2 to create a Standard Operating Procedure to guide and support staff in the selection of patients and the care thereafter.

This is currently being trialled and evaluated.

After evaluation the plan is to amend as indicated and then have a solid tool that will fit local streams and protocols and ensure patients are receiving care in the right place at the right time….first time.

Lesley can be contacted at [email protected] and is also keen to hear from others working on similar projects.
