Culturally specific self management education for understanding diabetes and Ramadan
This is a toolkit designed to help your patients with diabetes as well as your local community to promote safer observance of the holy month of Ramadan.The toolkit includes: Community Awareness Presentation: Designed to increase awareness of the impact of diabetes during Ramadan throughout communities; a specially designed folder and CD Rom allow for this presentation to be delivered in a variety of ways.
HCP Training: The Community Awareness Presentation is supported by a set of case studies. These allow HCPs to discuss how best to manage their patients before, during and after Ramadan.
Patient Education Sessions: A Safer Ramadan – a 2.5 hour group session designed to provide knowledge of how to observe Ramadan safely; topics include food choices, medication, physical activity, monitoring and hypo management.
