What have I done:

Creating a ward project to allow patients the opportunity to design and create a creative expression room on their ward

How this has benefited service users and / or staff:

By giving patients an environment to create, learn and develop skills within music

Patients that have helped out with the decorating of the creative expression room have said that it has given them a great sense of achievement and has built up their confidence when trying new creative projects.

By setting up an area for music creation it allows patients to become more independent in the skills they learn and develop, also it allows them to have more opportunities to take part in creative and musical sessions while at Arnold Lodge.

Why i'm proud of it:

Collaborative work between patients and staff to design and create this space. Patient now have an environment designed for creativity. The creative expression room opens up possibilities to have music session in the room with therapy staff or ward staff, for patients to practice and learn new instruments at their own pace.

The current progress of the setup of this room is the decorating has been completed and a wide variety of musical instruments have been purchased and are set up in the room for patients to use. In the future a new laptop with music creation software will be set up to allow patients greater freedom to create new and exciting music while on ward.
