Contract Award to deliver Supporting Technologies and Infrastructure Services for the new NHS Supply Chain

The Department of Health and Social Care’s Procurement Transformation Programme (PTP) has awarded a major contract for Supporting Technologies and Infrastructure Services to a DXC Technology group company.

DXC Technology is a world leading independent, end-to-end IT services company serving nearly 6,000 private and public-sector clients from a diverse array of industries across 70 countries.

This contract is the next stage in the implementation of a new operating model for NHS Supply Chain, through which all NHS organisations can purchase quality goods and consumables for patient care at the best possible value.

The contract award was based on an assessment of quality of services, commercial proposals and price, and will be in place for four years with the option to extend for up to two further years.

DXC Technology will commence with the provision and delivery of operational services across the new operating model and NHS Supply Chain, from early 2019.

Jin Sahota, Chief Executive Officer (Acting), SCCL and SRO of DHSC: ‘’I am delighted that DXC Technology has been awarded this contract, these services are hugely critical to the success of the new NHS Supply Chain. In DXC, we have a highly experienced operator with a track record in delivering major transformation within government. We look forward to working with them to provide a seamless service transition. As we look to increase patient care while balancing the challenges of an ageing population and growing cost burdens on the NHS, IT will be an essential enabling service to help us achieve our aim of delivering significant savings for NHS organisations for reinvestment back into NHS frontline care.”

Damien Ventakasamy, Industry General Manager, UK, Ireland, Israel, Middle East and Africa, DXC Technology said: “We are delighted to have been selected (alongside our partner PWC) to enable the improvement of the new NHS Supply Chain service. Our shared goal is to provide smarter, more effective IT to underpin the transformation of the buying experience of NHS organisations to support delivering patient care. Starting with transitioning existing critical services securely, DXC looks forward to supporting the new Supply Chain Coordination Limited organisation in continually transforming digital services to deliver significant costs savings across the healthcare buying chain.”
