Building the right workforce for diabetes care: a toolkit for primary care professionals

Building the right workforce for diabetes care: a toolkit for primary care professionals featured image

Diabetes is a long term condition that will increasingly challenge London’s healthcare system and there is significant variation in the quality of care provided.

The London Diabetes Strategic Clinical Network has launched a toolkit, aimed at those in primary care, which emphasises the need to adapt education and development to local settings within a general level of knowledge and competence of diabetes care across teams.

It details the key competencies necessary for delivering care and sharing the education and training programmes for diabetes care that are currently available.

It also considers ways to maintain knowledge and enhance skills through continuous professional development, with examples from case studies.
